Alzheimer Europe recently launched three new publications: Its 2022 Dementia in Europe Yearbook dedicated to employment and related social protection for people with dementia and their carers; a new set of guidelines for the ethical and inclusive communication about/portrayal of dementia and people with dementia; and a new guide called “Sex, Gender and Sexuality in the Context of Dementia: A guide to raise awareness amongst health and social care workers”.

Yearbook 2022
The Yearbook examines the overarching European and International accords which protect people with dementia and their carers in relation to employment and social protection, as well as examining the approaches to policy and legislation taken by countries across Europe.
You can download the Yearbook, here.

Guidelines for the ethical and inclusive communication
The guidelines for the ethical and inclusive communication about/portrayal of dementia and people with dementia, which are structured around 14 statements, have been developed in tandem with the European Working Group of People with Dementia (EWGPWD) and are targeted at the media, researchers, journalists, policy makers and anyone responsible for the portrayal of or communication about dementia in the public domain.

Guide on sex, gender and sexuality in dementia
“Sex, Gender and Sexuality in the Context of Dementia: A guide to raise awareness amongst health and social care workers” was developed in 2022 to raise awareness and provide health and social care workers with recommendations on how to provide sensitive, appropriate and good quality care and support to people with dementia and their carers or supporters of different sexes, gender identities and sexual orientations.
